The Problem

Your data is scattered across dozens of institutions. Supermarkets know what you bought. Weighbridges know what you carried. Buildings know when you visited. But you? You have paper receipts fading in a drawer — if you kept them at all.

M-Pesa tells you where your money went. Kalatas tells you what it bought — and proves you own it.

Questions

Frequently Asked

Is my data safe?+
Your records are encrypted and stored securely. Only you control who sees your data. You can share specific documents via secure links that you can revoke at any time.
How do merchants send me receipts?+
Participating merchants send digital receipts automatically at checkout, linked to your phone number or Kalatas account. You can also scan paper receipts to digitize them.
What if I bought something before joining Kalatas?+
You can scan and upload any existing paper receipts. For electronics, if the original purchase was tax-compliant, we can verify it against KRA records.
Does it work with M-Pesa?+
Kalatas complements M-Pesa. While M-Pesa shows you paid KES 4,200 to Naivas, Kalatas shows you the 14 items you actually bought. They work together, not as replacements.
How does the chain of custody work for second-hand goods?+
When you sell a device, the original receipt and a new transfer receipt are both recorded. The buyer gets a verified chain of ownership. One device can only have one active chain — preventing fraud.
Is Kalatas free?+
The basic version is free for individuals. We offer premium features for businesses, fleet operators, and high-volume users. Early adopters receive special rates.
